8 TIPS TO GIVE YOUR HOME FALL CURB APPEAL
First impressions are everything. An attractive exterior can make or break a home when it is on the market. It is important to understand that curb appeal matters. According to statistics, 63 percent of buyers will drive by after seeing your home online. With that being said, let’s address some simple changes that can make a difference in the first live snapshot that a buyer gets of your home.
Clean up leaves and debris
Never slack off on lawn maintenance when your house is on the market. Remove fallen leave, patch grass, and sweep sidewalks and driveways.
Fall flowers
There are many species of fall flowers that will add color brilliance to your home during the fall season. Don’t be afraid to replace those browning summer flowers with the brilliance of Mums Aster, Goldenrod, Helenium and many more.
Garden Beds
Clean all garden beds, prune shrubs and bushes and pull weeds. Add rocks where needed and replace faded and weather warn mulch with a fresh batch. Lastly, replace any broken or displaced boarder. You will be amazed at the difference these small changes will make overall.
Don’t forget the front door
If your door is warn or faded, give it a fresh coat of paint in a vibrant color. Making your entryway a focal point is a great idea no matter what season you place your house on the market. A fresh coat of paint can make a huge difference in an otherwise dull entry.
Clean the house
Different seasons present your homes exterior with different pollens, moss, dust and debris. When fall rolls around it is a great time to power wash your home. A pristine exterior gives buyers a glimpse of the care that will greet them on the inside of your home as well.
Makeover your mailbox
Does your mailbox compliment your home? If not you may need to give it a good cleaning or a fresh coat of paint. In some cases its best to replace it altogether. Don’t go crazy when choosing a new mailbox. Keep it simple and clean. Believe it or not, this is one of the first things a potential buyer may notice when putting put to your home. Especially if your address is displayed there.
Give shutters a facelift
Shutters were placed on your home to enhance its appearance. However, they are often forgotten and overlooked as you adjust to the subtle changes that occur to them as the years pass. A fresh coat of paint, tightening of screws and in some cases total replacement may be in order to give your home that fresh look that you are going for.
Replace or clean gutters and downspouts
Gutters and downspouts are an important of the aforementioned facelift of your home. If they are not aged or damage, you may only need to have them cleaned of all debris. Many older homes have old systems which are damaged and difficult to repair. In those cases replace them with a newer affordable vinyl system which does not have to be painted. Remember, a little goes a long way when it comes to changing your homes first impression.
